On June 23rd, 2026, DTT – Divertor Tokamak Test and the ENEA Frascati Research Centre had the honour of hosting an official delegation from Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), led by Dr. KAKITA Yasuyoshi, Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination, and accompanied by representatives from MEXT and the Embassy of Japan in Italy.
The visit included a guided tour of ENEA’s fusion research laboratories and DTT facilities, offering an overview of the scientific and technological activities currently underway in support of fusion energy development.
The delegation, together with DTT and ENEA representatives, engaged in in-depth discussions on the respective research programmes being carried out in Italy and Japan. The meeting provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue and for exploring future collaboration opportunities in the field of fusion energy, a key technology on the path towards a sustainable energy future.
DTT and ENEA would like to thank the Japanese delegation for their visit and for the fruitful exchange of knowledge and perspectives, which further highlighted the importance of international cooperation in advancing fusion energy research and innovation.
